Flowers from Daddy

Every once in a while Clint will pick some roses or some of my favorite flowers from our flower garden and bring in for me to enjoy in the house, this last time he brought some in for Makayla too. I think we found the way to her heart. Give her some flowers!

She carried them around until I made her put them in water so we could eat dinner. It was so fun to see her so excited! Good job Daddy!!

Spiders

I don't know if many people know that I am really scared of snakes and spiders. I have been OK with spiders lately until we found a HUGE black widow in our garage. Now I am all creeped out again when I see a spider.

Now that I have set this up I have a fun story of what happened today. I was sitting on my bedroom floor folding some of Makayla's old bibs to put into storage, when Makayla walks in to see what I was doing when she points at my back and says "Spider Mommy" So then I kinda panic and ask her if there is a spider on my back and all she will do is nod. So then I ask her to get it off a couple of times and she stands there shaking her head with huge eyes. So I brush off my back the best that I can and go look in the mirror and I can't see a spider so I figure she was teasing me.

Makayla goes into her room to put one of her bibs on one of her toy babies and not 45 seconds after she left that little stupid brown spider climbs on my leg. I flipped it off as fast as I could and I hear Makayla from her room say - oooh spider and she came running in. I told her that I got the spider but I didn't really know where it went after I flipped it.

Then our cat Luna got in her pounce position, wiggled her bum and jumped. She is the spider and fly killer in our house, which I appreciate. So with a group effort at our house we were able to get the spider situation under control!! Now that it is over it is funny and I am laughing so hard about it.

I just thought you all might need a little laugh today ;o)

Our little Makayla is growing up ...

Well if I thought I was sad when we changed the crib to a toddler bed, I was wrong.

A week and a half ago we got Makayla a twin sized bed and she absolutely loves it! I don't know if she loves the bed or the Princess sheets more!!

What a strange thing it is to watch your child grow up. When she was a baby we couldn't wait for her to get bigger so we could see all of the new things that she would do. Now she is doing so many things and has gotten so big that we wish that time went slower so we could enjoy all of the changes.

We are so proud of all of the progress that Makayla has made. We know that we still have lots of work to do, but she is an awesome little girl!

Moon Lake 2008

We went on our annual trip to Moon Lake last weekend and had such a great time!! It seems that something unusual has happened over the past 4 years - nasty biting bugs, torrential downpours of rain, tornado's, bears ... - We always have an interesting story coming home. This year however, no good story!! We are very grateful for that. The weather was awesome, there wasn't a bear trap this year and we had a blast with all of the Monson Family Cousins.

We got to relax more this year, we played at the beach a lot,

we ate lots of yummy food, Clint flew a kite with our brother-in-law Lance,

and we went on a bike ride.
